Have you ever wanted to make your weekend out on the lake more fun? Or always see people wakeboarding, skiing, or surfing and thought “Man I wish I could do that!” Well now you can!

WHAT MY SKI SCHOOL IS ABOUT

Here at Bishop Ski School we believe in giving the best experience possible on and off the water. We take any age or skill level. It does not matter if you have never touched a pair of skis before or if you are a competitive skier and skiing deep in the slalom course. We also offer wakeboarding and wake surfing lessons. We want to make the best experience possible and hopefully introduce you into a new lifelong sport.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT

If you have never before waterskied then when you first arrive expect to be fitted with gear. This includes a life jacket, pair of skis that are the correct size, and possibly a pair of gloves. From there we will do some on land lessons and go over some of the basics of learning how to get up on two skis, then we will hit the water! You will then have a specific amount of time roughly 15–20 minutes, with a driver and a instructor on a private lake who are dedicated to you and only you. Depending on how quickly you learn and how many sets you decide to do, we then move from getting up on two skis, to crossing the wakes, then learning to drop one ski and get comfortable riding and crossing the wake on one ski to getting up on one ski, eventually hoping to introduce you into the slalom course. Of course you are by no means forced to do all of this. I know what you are thinking, there is no way I could ever ski on one ski! And many of you may not even know what a slalom course is! which is totally okay. I will be there to coach you through every step of the way making sure each step is clear and that you are comfortable with moving to the next step. If your main goal is to just learn how to ride one ski then we will focus on that and not worry about course skiing vice versa.

If you want to learn to wakeboard and never have before then we teach you to ski on two skis first because the motion of moving forwards is a lot easier standing straight than sideways. From there we will do on land lessons about how to get up on a wakeboard then hit the water!

WHY OPEN A SKI SCHOOL

I have always enjoyed the sport and have always enjoyed helping people, so I wanted to combine the two. The feeling of getting someone up on skis, and seeing the reaction of “Oh my gosh I just did that!!” and seeing the excitement in their faces gives me a feeling that I can not begin to describe. I have always enjoyed the sport and want to introduce it to as many people as possible because not many people understand it and realize how much fun, and competitive it can be.

WHY TRAIN WITH ME?

I have been skiing for 14 years and competitively skiing for 7. I have been teaching people to improve their skills on the water in wakeboarding, skiing, beginner trick skiing, and beginner barefooting for 6 years now. I have competed in many state and regional tournaments placing 1st in the 2020 state championship, 3rd in the 2020 southern regional tournament, and 11th in the 2020 Goode national championship. I have a pretty good understanding of the sport and have the knowledge to help get you out on the water. I am dedicated to making sure you have the best time on the water as well as a successful experience.
